Leading Lady

When you hear the name Jennie Finch it is synonymous with women's softball. Starting her collegiate career at the University of Arizona, she earned her first World Series title during her sophomore year. She won the title again the next year. She and the Wildcats had a perfect season and Finch received the Pitcher of the Year Award. In her final season, she won Pitcher of the Year as well as Player of the Year. However, they lost the final championship game. Finch is regarded as the best softball player n history and also added  gold medal in the Athens Olympics in 2004 and a silver medal at the Beijing Olympics in 2008.  

Joe Mauer

Ever since  can remember, Joe Mauer has always been my answer when someone asked me who my favorite athlete was. I remember wen I was younger, I was in a waiting room and picked up a magazine and Joe was on the cover. I read his feature article and the rest is history. Years later he is still one of my very favorites. And I make a point to watch his games. I also go to the Pirates game that they play the Minnesota Twins to hopefully get to watch him play. Now, I would never pick any team over the Pittsburgh teams, but I do admire any athlete who puts it all out on the field every time they play.

Pascal Dupuis

Its always great to hear athlete success stories. But to have a success story their has to be an incident before hand that knocks that athlete down. Pascal Dupuis is one of those athletes but he is also one that everyone was rooting for. On November 19, 2014, Dupuis was diagnosed with a blood clot in the lung. Before his diagnosis, he had left practice two days before due to tightness in his chest. The medical staff said that the blood clot travelled from the leg to the lung. He was expected to be out six months, and was out of the line up for the rest of the 2014–15 season. He played in his first hockey game in a little under a year on October 22, 2015. He received a standing ovation from those watching at he Consol Energy Center and likely even those watching at home even clapped when they saw him skating again.
